Accounting Analyst

The Accounting Analyst will be accountable for performing CANARIE’s accounts payable and other day-to-day accounting tasks.

This is a full-time, permanent term position that reports to CANARIE’s Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process funded participant claims, including analyzing supporting documentation
  • Prepare continuity schedules and account reconciliations
  • Act as the primary finance contact for employee expense claims and vendor invoices and ensure timely communication
  • Enter accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices and expense reports
  • Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents
  • Verify all requested changes to vendor banking details
  • Prepare subledger reports and reconciliations
  • Record cash receipt and payment transactions (e.g., wire transfers, bill payments, cheques, )
  • Participate in the accounting period closing activities
  • Contribute to system implementation projects
  • Assist with implementing and maintain internal financial controls and procedures
  • Related duties and responsibilities, as required

Relevant experience in publicly funded not-for-profit organizations is desirable. Bilingualism is preferred.

What You Bring

Education and Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in Business Administration or Accounting, or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounts payable processing and other accounting experience

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details
  • Problem-solving skills, including the ability to trouble shoot issues and to bring forward possible solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to adapt communication to different stakeholders
  • Ability to work manage multiple priorities

Technical Proficiencies

  • Knowledge and experience of the Microsoft Office suite, including use of formulas in Excel
  • Working experience in ERP applications and related reporting tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, is desirable
  • Experience with PairSoft WorkPlace, is desirable
